Upstream of Teddington the Path no longer runs on both sides of the river, so occassional crossing becomes necessary. I forget this, of course, and so end up taking a detour through the village of Thames Ditton after failing to cross over to the north bank at Kingston Bridge. The diversion does lead me past an interesting mosaic, which a quick Google reveals to have been made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Kingston branch of John Lewis.

After arriving at Hampton Court Bridge I rejoin the Thames Path proper and continue on to Walton; 42 miles from the Thames Barrier, and outside the London Travelcard zone for the first time, I have to pay for the bus to take me to Staines railway station for the journey home.
